The “Write Better Right Now” webinars, part of the Press Club’s longstanding “Nuts & Bolts” educational series, are designed as an opportunity to learn how to be a better writer. The webinars, launched earlier this year, feature a veteran journalist sharing their favorite writing tips they’ve learned during their career, as well as memorable stories they’ve experienced during their career of news reporting.

Cliff Albert, news director at KOGO-AM Newsradio 600 and a Press Club board member, will focus on how to be a better broadcast writer. Veteran broadcast journalist Kristen Castillo, also a Press Club board member and past Press Club president, will serve as moderator.

Cliff Albert has been one of San Diego’s leading radio news personalities for the past 35 years. His “Cliff Notes on the News” commentaries, which have been heard continuously weekday mornings since 1997 on KOGO-AM, have won numerous awards for writing and broadcasting including several Golden Mikes from the Radio & Television News Association. His daily commentaries are also podcast on line on iHeart Radio.

Cliff’s reporting and management of breaking news coverage on San Diego radio since 1979 have received top honors from the Associated Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the San Diego Press Club and the National Headliners Club.

Cliff was news director at KFMB radio from 1979 to through 1996, director of news and programing at KOGO radio from 1996 through 2013, and returned to KOGO as news director in 2014.
